My Runaway Houses series was inspired by one of my favorite books from my childhood, a story by Norwegian writer Tor Age Bringsvaerd about an old house that is rescued by its bird friends from demolition and resettled on an opening in a beautiful, peaceful forest – a place the house used to dream abut for years. The 12 pieces portray imaginary old buildings in different characteristic historical architectural styles from all around the world – but instead of their original urban environment I placed them in a natural setting that is typical in the closer or wider neighbourhood of their place of origin. All pieces are available as framed, acrylic and metal prints in different sizes in my store.
