My minimalist poster design for Mozart’s opera buffa ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ (The Marriage of Figaro).

My personal favorit of all Mozart operas – a real ‘opera buffa’ with exquisite music, very entertaining characters and a seemingly lighthearted story about the wedding day of the same Figaro who appears in Rossini’s Barber of Seville. With lots of funny and unlikely twists, Count Almaviva is basically trolled throughout the whole opera by her wife Rosina, Figaro and his bride Suzanna, and all other participants from the gardener to the count’s page Cherubino in order to get the marriage done and prevent the count from exercising the jus primae noctis.

The sheet music at the bottom of the poster is from ‘Sull’aria’, the beautiful soprano duet that Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) played for the prisoners in the movie The Shawshank Redemption.
