My original poster design for Verdi’s opera ‘Rigoletto’.
Rigoletto is one of the most exciting operas with a grim finale and no redemption, with extremes but also a sense of moral ambiguity. Rigoletto is the anti-hero of the piece, a hunchbacked jester in the court of the despicable Duke of Mantua. He willingly accommodates his master’s immoral lifestyle while living a double-life outside the cruel world of the court with her daughter Gilda, who eventually pays the price for his fathers behavior.
The sheet music at the bottom of the poster is from the canzone ‘La donna é mobile’, probably the most famous tenor aria in history.
