Second empire style houses and mansions were very popular everywhere in the US around the late 1800s – some of the most beautiful examples can be seen today around Lafayette Park in the historic Soulard district of St. Louis. I set this one in the sand of the Sonora desert, with a huge saguaro and a greater roadrunner to pay homage to an iconic cartoon…(Wiley is lying in ambush behind the house, obviously ;))
