My minimalist poster design for Wagner’s love story, Tristan und Isolde.
The tragic love of Tristan and Isolde and their fate is sealed as they drink a love potion instead of a death poison aboard Tristan’s ship before they end their voyage on the sea and arrive to King Marke’s land. Isolde is promised to the king in marriage, Tristan has to choose between his love and betraying his beloved uncle – as usual with these kinds of stories, it ends badly, with swords and deaths…
The sheet music at the bottom of the poster is from Isolde’s last aria ‘Liebestode’ (Mild und leise).
